If you're like us then you love sport compact drag racing and live for the wild engine conversions and big horsepower combinations their drivers come up with. With Jamboree 21 only a day or so away, we thought we'd help you get in the mood with something a bit special.

Resident Zoom photographer and sport compact correspondent, Jason Gynn, recently jumped on a jet plane, flew stateside and rolled up to Atco Raceway to cover the Pan American Nationals exclusively for Zoom Magazine readers. While you'll have to wait until issue #169 to see the feature in the magazine, here's a little video teaser to whet your appetite.

Well, kind of...

For those of you out there that are not hard-core rotary devotees and may be unaware, 2011 marks the 20th anniversary of Mazda’s victory in the gruelling 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race. To celebrate this anniversary, Le Mans event organisers have invited Mazda to demonstrate the legendary Mazda 787B on the Circuit de la Sarthe in Le Mans, France on Saturday June 11 prior to the main event, the 24-hour race. In addition to the on track action, the car will also be taking part in the Driver’s Parade through the Le Mans city centre on Friday June 10.

Well ladies and gentleman, the 2011 Sydney Jamboree has been run and won and what an epic event it was.

There was plenty of on-track action last night at Sydney Dragway at the Full Throttle Friday meet. With the Sydney Jamboree on this Sunday, it was the last opportunity for teams to get some track time for testing before the big event and as a result, we were blessed with some pretty awesome passes.

While surfing the net we came across this clip on Youtube of our good friend Anthony DeOlivera getting a bit excited with the throttle in his 10-second Mazda 1000 ute during the off-street racing at the recent Sydney Powercruise.

Watch how what began as a pretty awesome powerskid quickly turns into a spin-dry, sending the little orange ute flying towards yours truly while I was snapping away at the action. As you can see, I was given a front row seat to the spin as it unfolded so keep an eye out for the sequence of photos in an upcoming issue of Zoom.

The night was action-packed, with a few new cars making their debuts that really got people talking, as well as a  handful of cars coming over from the Powercruise event at the neighboring Easter Creek Raceway. 

Well ladies and gentlemen, the Pac Performance crew are at it once again with their Pro Turbo 20B Mazda6 laying down a critic silencing 6.589@208.65mph pass at tonights 'Full Throttle Friday' meet at Sydney Dragway.

There was plenty of tough cars out on the track for the first Full Throttle Friday of the season and it was none-stop action right through the night. Unfortunately the buzz of the night was dampened somewhat by a horrific accident involving Steven 'Junior' Abreu's 'back-halfed' RX3 and Anthony Daquino's full chassis RX3.

It hadn’t been smooth sailing for the Pac crew in the lead-up to the 20th running of the Jamboree but with a niggling issue finally taken care of in testing and the car in one piece, there was nothing left to do but head north to Willowbank and put on a show for rotor fans everywhere.
