The warmer weather is back once again and that has also brought with it the return of the popular Full Throttle Friday meets at Sydney Dragway. This weeks meet was unfortunitly a bit of a fizzer with only a small amount of racers turning up.

World's first R35 GT-R drag car

When the news of not one but three full-chassis R35 GT-R drag cars appeared as if from nowhere just a couple of weeks ago it took many, including the team at Zoom, by surprise. Aaron Gregory and the ITP team did well to keep the simultaneous builds on the down-low but since those first pics, we've seen nothing. Zero. Zip.

Close call at Sydney Powercruise

While surfing the net we came across this clip on Youtube of our good friend Anthony DeOlivera getting a bit excited with the throttle in his 10-second Mazda 1000 ute during the off-street racing at the recent Sydney Powercruise.

Watch how what began as a pretty awesome powerskid quickly turns into a spin-dry, sending the little orange ute flying towards yours truly while I was snapping away at the action. As you can see, I was given a front row seat to the spin as it unfolded so keep an eye out for the sequence of photos in an upcoming issue of Zoom.

STEVE BARNS' TWIN TURBO V8 NOSTALGIA FX

sites/default/files/_DSC6355_1.jpg

We are always on the lookout for cool and quirky cars when we are out and about and we happened to come across this tough-sounding FX Holden as it rolled into the staging lanes at a Sydney Dragway Full Throttle Friday meet in November.  Upon closer inspection we couldn't help but notice two sizable turbos visible from under the hood-line, so after watching it crawl off the line before coming to life and sling shotting down the strip for a low 10, we headed into the pits to take a closer look at this old beast.

Cops & Community car show

Unfortunately due to ongoing rain the annual Cops & Community car show that was to be held yesterday 24/10 at Kembla Grange racecourse just south of Sydney has had to be posponed until the 28th November.

With an excess on 150 cars and bikes entered for the event it is sure to be an event not to be missed. Lets just hope mother nature gives the guys some blue skys this time around.

Toyotafest 2010

sites/default/files/Sluttyoffset_Toyotafest_1.JPG

Members of Toymods and other associated Toyota car clubs held the Toyotafest car show over the October long weekend and I went down to have a look. It was held at the Home Hub Hills shopping centre and the centre itself gave the event plenty of support, which is not surprising as the event attracted over 100 entrants and many times that in spectators. Dav Hoban, one of the main organisers fo the event, said the shopping centre provided $25000 worth of support in terms of promotional material, space and organisational assistance. More over the fold with complete coverage in a forthcoming issue of the magazine.
