Jamboree 2010 - Pre-Jambo Testing Update 2
It was another big day of testing yesterday at Willowbank Raceway ahead of this weekend's Jamboree event and our man on the scene, JustDave, was there to capture some of the action as well as lock in a couple of shoots for Zoom.

Read all about the test day over the fold.
Reece McGregor's team is keeping their fans and supporters up to date via the Heat Treatments Drag Racing Facebook page so if you're into massive horsepower GT-R's then make sure you check it out and become a fan.
As well as covering all the action for you at home, our shooter JustDave and the Heat Treatments team somehow found time in their schedules to make a full feature shoot happen on location at Willowbank Raceway. You can see all the ins and outs in an upcoming issue of Zoom.

Here's some of what the team had to say about their passes yesterday;
"Hi guys, another nice day here again. Testing starts at 11 am. We are still working on getting our clutch weights right to suit the sticky track. On tue there where two top fuel cars testing! That was very cool. One rail car blew an engine at half track and still run a 5 second pass." - HTLRACING
On the first pass of the morning the GT-R had too much clutch in it and it pulled the car down. The team made the appropriate adjustments and came back around. Reece's second pass was an 8.3 @ 184mph however the team clearly weren't happy with the setup;

"The team is working pretty hard to get the clutch working right on this track. We still have time for another couple of passes though so stay tuned!" - HTLRACING

The next pass was slightly quicker but when the world's quickest AWD gets out of shape it's time to back off and that's exactly what Reece did, running through for an off-early 8.22 @ 183mph.

The final pass went to plan and the result was a 7.73 @ 187mph. Photographer JustDave described the pass as "loose" proving that when it comes to GT-R drag racing, winding on a little bit of lock is the order of the day.

Rod Harvey proved that the 6.4sec pass he'd run the day before was no fluke with another forty - this time a 6.48 @ 221mph. Another pass saw a 6.52 @ 221mph however this was with an early lift. Onlookers felt certain it was on another solid 6.4sec pass.

The Millenium Motorsport Supra had dramas getting the tough 2JZ to leave following some last-minute dyno tuning. Their next test session will be round one qualifying where they hope to get into the 8's.

The Paradise Motorhomes FWD Lancer also struggled but is looking good for the weekend to come.

Tony Wedlock was struggling to leave cleanly but still managed some impressive skids. Pro Turbo is going to be an epic battle.

NSW Super Compact campaigner and TCR Automotive FD RX7 driver Dib Taouil had his Street 289 monster out in force and ran a couple of impressive 8.0's @ 170mph. The car sounded great and the team are confident that when they wind it up for race day they'll be competitive.

With no car to race (yet), the pilot of the Sporty RX7 helps the TCR team out by bringing Dib into stage.

Craig Dyson has been behind the wheel of Graham Prior's stunning black R100 for only a couple of meetings so far but has already run some impressive numbers including this 7.55 @ 179.76mph.

The Yankee RX8 had an up and down sort of a day with the team working hard to ensure the excellently presented Puerto Rican/Australian collaboration is ready for J20. By early afternoon the team had managed an 8.6 @ 110mph with subsequent passes resulting in the interesting problem of a door flying open on the two-step.

At the conclusion of testing the team were confident of putting in a good showing come race day. A huge thank you to all the guys for making the feature car shoot a reality as well. You'll see the feature (engine and all!) in an upcoming issue of Zoom.

We spoke to Ben Bray bright and earlier this morning too who told us that he'd be racing two and possibly three cars this weekend. The Gas Motorsport Scion will be running in Pro Turbo and his Datsun Ute will be in Pro Compact taking on the rotors but if the best laid plans of today and tomorrow come to fruition, Ben will have his latest toy, the ex-Rayglass Datsun Coupe to play with. "We're finishing it [the coupe] and starting it today and if all goes well, I'll drive it this weekend," an apparently very busy Bray told us.
Lastly, there has been a lot of confusion and anxiety about whether or not the Sporty car will arrive in Australia in time for the event. We spoke with Sport Compact Group promoter (and all 'round nice guy) Ray Box this morning who simply said, "We're doing everything we can to get it here." The sport compact drag racing fans of the world have their fingers crossed.

We'll bring you more information as it comes to hand.
