Currently competing at the 2011 Winternationals at Queensland’s Willowbank Raceway, Reece McGregor and the Heat Treatments crew have just re-set their own world record for thr fastest GTR with a blistering 7.56@184.95mph pass. Its previous best was a 7.57 at a faster 190mph which shows the car has the potential to go even quicker.

Running a very heavily modified RB26 with a bottom end based upon an HKS 2.8 stroker setup, it receives boost from a large custom-spec turbo that helps it produce somewhere in the vicinity of 1600 to 1700hp on methanol. What’s even more impressive is the engine’s ability to produce 1250hp in the space of 5000-6000rpm!

The boosted air is cooled by a custom dry ice intercooler and while you think a turbo of this size would be far from responsive, it’s quite the contrary. In fact the engine can be free revved and make 40psi of boost so lag is definitely not an issue.

The driveline and suspension in this car is also a work of engineering art, featuring a trick custom adjustable rear end and wait for it, carbon fibre driveshafts at the rear.

With two more days of racing still ahead of us we will be keeping a close eye on this white rocket and the rest of the Sport Compact cars competing at this year’s Winternationals.

Stay tuned for more updates.
