By this time tomorrow morning, the Mazworx  S15 will be in a shipping container and on its way to Australian shores where new owner, Micks Motorsport owner, Michael Baghdadi is eagerly-awaiting its arrival.

Powered by a Mazworx-prepped 1400hp SR22VE-T engine, a 2.2L variable valve timing version of the well known SR20, this 3/4 chassis Nissan is one of the quickest four-cylinder cars in the world with a best ET of 7.37@184mph.

Michael made the trip over to the states in late October 2010 to test out the car prior to making the purchase. Racing the car at the 2010 World Street Nationals at Orlando Speedway, on his first time behind the wheel, Michael netted a best pass of 7.40@190.67 which is a record trap speed for the car.

Check out a video of the pass here

We spoke with Michael to get the inside scoop on the car and his plans once it arrives.

"I was originally looking to purchase the car and put an RB into it but after looking into the conversion a bit more I decided it would be too much of a pain. The car is very consistent with the SR and definitely has a lot of potential so we are going to stick with the four cylinder and aim for sixes."

The car was purchased complete but the Micks Motorsport crew will be giving the running gear a freshen up and fitting a new Haltech ECU. The guys are hoping to start testing in early April, ready for the 2011 Nitro Champs at Sydney Dragway on the 29/4/11.

"The car should arrive in about five weeks and then we have a lot of work to do to get it up and running again and ready to race. We are also yet to determine what class we will be running in as the rules are different over here compared to the states."

With this green machine on its way and many other hypo four cylinder cars nearing completion, are we on the brink or a major comeback for the humble four-banger? We certainly think so. Watch this space for more updates as they come on this and many other new cars soon to be hitting the strip.
